Yewon Seo, documentary filmmaker and art director.
Born in South Korea and now based in Germany, I move between different worlds, between structural problems and artistic responses, between East Asia and Europe, that touch, overlap, and sometimes collide.
My work emerges at the margins, where migration, precarity, and gender leave visible and invisible traces. Out of these fractures I create images that do not simply document, but open resonant spaces. Between documentary and poetry, I search for a cinematic language that keeps memory in motion rather than fixing it. Hands, gestures, and voices become fragments that weave together without enclosing.
My films do not promise belonging; they seek encounters. A cinema not of final answers, but of shared questions, where vulnerability becomes a form of connection.
